Wheat Halwa

Wheat halwa is a traditional sweet dish originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is made by boiling wheat flour with milk and sugar, and is often flavored with cardamom powder, saffron, and nuts such as almonds and pistachios. This dish is popular in many countries in the region, including India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. and is often served as a dessert during special occasions and celebrations.

  • 1 Kadhai


  • 1 Cup Wheat Flour
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Dryfruits
  • 1 Tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 4 Tbsp Ghee
  • 2 Cups Milk


  • Heat the ghee in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add the wheat flour and roast until it turns golden brown.This should take around 10-15 minutes. (Quirky tip: add a pinch of salt to the flour while roasting to bring out the flavor)
  • Gradually add the milk while continuously stirring the mixture to prevent lumps from forming.
  • Add the sugar, cardamom powder, and sliced almonds and raisins (if using).
  • Keep stirring until the mixture thickens and the halwa starts to come away from the sides of the pan.
  • Serve hot, garnished with a few extra sliced almonds and a sprinkle of cardamom powder.
